This year, Epona – NUS’ own Fairtrade clothing brand – purchased 50,000kg of Fairtrade cotton. Epona also secured funding, through the Fairtrade Foundation, to communicate the Fairtrade story through the journey its garments go on. Finally, we are incredibly proud to say that Epona has become the first UK company to sign up to the Fairtrade Textile Programme. The scheme is the first of its kind for fashion companies, monitoring every stage of the supply chain: from cotton field to factory – and NUS (not unusually, if we do say so ourselves) is leading the way.
